Facilities Crew (First-Year Position) Montserrat College of Art

Department: Facilities Hours Needed Each Week: 5 Expected Duration of Job: Spring 2027 Pay: $15.00/hour Summary Statement: The Facilities Crew supports the daily operations, upkeep, and improvement of campus buildings and grounds during the fall semester. Under the supervision of the Director of Facilities and Facilities Staff Members, crew members assist with a range of hands-on work to maintain a safe, functional, and attractive campus environment. Responsibilities primarily include painting, landscaping, moving furniture, cleaning, and supporting maintenance, construction, and campus improvement projects, as well as organizing supplies, tracking inventory, and assisting with data collection as needed. Requirements: Ability to lift 40 lbs or more and perform physical tasks safely Must be able to work outdoors in warm and varying weather conditions Must follow all standard safety codes and practices Attention to detail and willingness to assist with inventory and data collection Dependable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team Additional Information: A valid driver’s license is preferred but not required Prior experience in facilities, maintenance, landscaping, or a similar role is helpful but not required Students must be in good academic, financial, and social standing with the college All necessary tools and safety equipment will be provided Training on equipment use and safety procedures will be conducted before starting work Learning Outcomes: Facilities Crew members will be able to: Demonstrate professionalism by arriving prepared, meeting deadlines, and completing assigned tasks safely and accurately Communicate clearly and respectfully with supervisors and team members to ensure projects and safety procedures are understood Collaborate effectively in a team environment, contributing to shared goals and supporting peers on a variety of facilities projects Apply problem-solving and critical thinking skills to identify issues, adapt to challenges, and find practical solutions in maintenance and operations Track inventory, manage supplies, and collect facilities data using available technology to improve efficiency and accuracy Take ownership of work duties and follow through on responsibilities, maintaining accountability and attention to detail Exhibit inclusivity and respect for diverse perspectives while working with campus community members Build confidence in practical, hands-on skills such as painting, landscaping, and light construction through active learning and feedback Proactively seek opportunities for growth, learning new techniques and expanding professional skills within the facilities environment Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating initiative, reliability, and a strong work ethic that supports the department’s mission Contact Person Name: Jim Bernhardt (View email address on click.appcast.io) #J-18808-Ljbffr Montserrat
