Retail Clerk

PRIMARY FUNCTION The Retail Clerk performs retail sales, takes inventory and provides customer service at Bonanza Express Store. This is a regular full-time position. Days and hours of work vary by schedule. Evening and weekend work may be required as schedule demands. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provide cashier services to Bonanza Express customer Maintain merchandise and cleanliness of store. Stock shelves and maintain in-stock with merchandise Haul freight from truck to storage room. Ensure compliance of company policies, procedures and practices. Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Perform other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities. REQUIREMENTS KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and to effectively and professionally assist customers in this type of environment. Effective oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with others. Strong customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up. Ability to convey information clearly, effectively, and professionally. Active listening skills; attentiveness when listening to others to understand, ask appropriate questions, etc. Ability to perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide, find ratios/percentages) quickly and correctly and read bar charts and graphs. QUALIFICATIONS High School diploma or GED (General Education Degree) preferred. Must be at least 19 years in age to sell tobacco products. Must be dependable and able to work a flexible schedule. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Ability to lift 70 lbs. and lift heavy boxes. Must have great customer service 1 year in related experience preferred. Ability to pass a background screening and credit check. WORKING ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job operates in a retail business environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computer, phones, photocopier, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
