Travel Ultrasound Technologist Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,150–$2,310
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel contract
• Start Date: November 16, 2026
• End Date: February 15, 2027
• Location: New Haven, Connecticut
• Healthcare Setting: Short-term acute care hospital; Level I trauma environment
• Specialty: Vascular ultrasound and diagnostic medical sonography
• Schedule: Five 8-hour shifts per week; approximately 40 hours weekly
• Shift Coverage: Day and afternoon/evening coverage, with schedules that may include approximately 7:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. or 1:00 p.m.–9:30 p.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Saturday coverage is required
• Clinical Volume: Approximately 10 visits per day in a four-room imaging department

Vascular Ultrasound Technologist Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent Ultrasound Technologist or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer experience, including vascular ultrasound experience
• Previous experience caring for adult and geriatric patients in acute care, emergency department, ICU, and portable imaging environments
• ARDMS credential required; Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or another vascular registry is strongly expected for this specialty
• Current BLS certification
• Proficiency with PACS and electronic documentation; Epic experience preferred
• Experience performing vascular and general ultrasound studies, including carotid, upper and lower extremity arterial and venous studies, renal artery duplex, aorta, dialysis grafts, and Doppler imaging
• Ability to obtain and maintain any required Connecticut credential before the assignment start date
• Travel assignment eligibility; candidates residing within approximately 75 miles of the facility may not qualify
• Seasonal influenza vaccination is required

Vascular Ultrasound Technologist Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality vascular and general ultrasound examinations for adult and geriatric patients
• Conduct carotid, arterial, venous, renal, aortic, dialysis graft, and other duplex studies according to established protocols
• Provide diagnostic imaging support for emergency department, ICU, inpatient, and portable examination requests
• Obtain accurate patient histories, explain procedures, and promote patient comfort and safety
• Recognize and appropriately document relevant sonographic findings for radiologist interpretation
• Complete studies and documentation accurately in PACS and Epic
• Collaborate with radiology and interdisciplinary care teams to support timely diagnostic evaluation
• Follow infection prevention, isolation precaution, equipment cleaning, and patient identification standards
