Travel Ultrasound Technologist Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,150–$2,310
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Assignment Dates: November 16, 2026–February 15, 2027
• Location: New Haven, Connecticut
• Healthcare Setting: Short-term acute care hospital; Level I trauma center
• Schedule: 5 shifts per week, primarily days and evenings, including weekend coverage every Saturday
• Shift Duration: 8-hour shifts
• Typical Hours: Day shifts may begin around 7:00–8:00 a.m.; evening shifts may begin around 1:00 p.m.
• Charting and Imaging Systems: Epic and PACS
• Patient Population: Adults and geriatric patients
• Expected Volume: Approximately 10 visits per day
• Orientation: Approximately 40 hours

Vascular Ultrasound Technologist Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent experience as an Ultrasound Technologist, including vascular ultrasound experience
• ARDMS certification required; ARDMS credentials in vascular technology are strongly preferred
• Current BLS certification
• Proficiency with adult, emergency department, intensive care, and portable ultrasound examinations
• Experience with PACS; Epic experience preferred
• Competency in vascular studies such as carotid, upper- and lower-extremity arterial and venous studies, arterial grafts, dialysis grafts, renal artery duplex, aorta, and stents
• Ability to perform a broad range of general ultrasound exams, including abdominal, renal, pelvic, thyroid, breast, scrotal, and superficial mass studies
• Active Connecticut licensure or eligibility to obtain the required license before the assignment start date
• Travel assignment experience required
• Seasonal influenza vaccination required
• Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the assignment location are not eligible

Ultrasound Technologist Responsibilities

• Perform accurate vascular and general ultrasound examinations in accordance with established protocols
• Complete diagnostic ultrasound studies for patients in inpatient units, the emergency department, intensive care, and portable settings
• Evaluate arterial and venous blood flow using duplex, Doppler, and color-flow techniques
• Perform examinations involving the carotid arteries, aorta, extremities, renal vessels, dialysis grafts, and other vascular structures
• Conduct general ultrasound studies involving abdominal, pelvic, renal, thyroid, breast, scrotal, and superficial structures as assigned
• Obtain and document high-quality diagnostic images and measurements for radiologist interpretation
• Use PACS and electronic charting systems to document examinations and communicate relevant findings
• Collaborate with radiology and interdisciplinary care teams while maintaining patient comfort, privacy, and safety
• Follow infection prevention, isolation, and portable imaging procedures
