Patient Care Tech, Full Time, Intermediate Care/Stepdown Unit - Nights

City/State: Hampton, VA Work Shift: Third (Nights) Position Overview Sentara Careplex Hospital is hiring a full‑time Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Medicine Unit. Shift: 7:00pm–7:00am, rotating weekends. 36hours per week. Responsibilities Provide patient care and support for independent and dependent activities of daily living. Take vital signs, assist with mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point‑of‑care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal. Comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse. Observe patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions; document accurately and report any changes to the nurse or medical staff. Education & Qualifications HS Diploma or Equivalent. One of the following certifications: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT) US Navy Hospital Corps School completion Emergency Services including EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT, and Paramedic Current student enrolled in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) having completed at least one semester of RN, LPN, RT, or PT, Current work experience within the last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant. Certification/Licensure Basic Life Support Certification.
