Patient Care Tech, Full Time, Intermediate Care/Stepdown Unit - Nights

Job Details Sentara Careplex Hospital, Hampton, VA Night shift (7:00 pm–7:00 am), rotating weekends; 36 hours per week. Overview The Patient Care Technician provides patient care, supports independent and dependent activities of daily living, takes vital signs, assists with mobility and ambulation, performs phlebotomy, point‑of‑care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and Foley catheter insertion and removal. The technician complies with patient safety practices under the direction of a professional RN nurse, observes patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions, documents promptly and accurately, and reports any changes to nursing or medical staff. Education HS Diploma or Equivalent (Required) At least one of the following: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program; Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA); National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA); National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT); US Navy Hospital Corps School; Emergency Services certification (EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic); current student in a clinical program beyond prerequisites with at least one semester of RN, LPN, RT, or PT; or recent PCT or Nursing Assistant work experience within the last three years.
