Lead Maintenance Technician Full Time Manual Labor Richmond, VA, US 3 days ago Requisition ID: 1046 Salary Range: $20.00 To $25.00 Annually Summary: The Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for overseeing maintenance operations for assigned HopeTree Family Services' properties. The Lead Maintenance Technicianensures that facilities, grounds, and building systems are safe, functional, well-maintained, and compliant with all applicable local, state, and federal standards. serves as a primary point of contact for contractors and inspectors, and works closely with facilities leadership to plan and execute both routine maintenance and capital improvement projects. Experience & Education: A high school diploma or GED is required, with additional technical training, certifications, or coursework in facilities maintenance, construction trades, or a related field preferred. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in general maintenance, facilities management, or general contracting, and coordinating contractors. This role requires a strong working knowledge of multiple trades, including carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, appliance repair, and general mechanical systems. The Lead Maintenance Technician must possess strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to prioritize work based on safety, urgency, and operational impact. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential for working with leadership, program staff, inspectors, vendors, and contractors. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and systems used for work orders, documentation, and reporting is required. A valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and the ability to travel within the Western Region as needed are required. Essential duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed. Complete and support maintenance work for assigned campuses and properties, prioritizing tasks based on safety, urgency, and operational needs. Oversee general maintenance, repair, and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and agency vehicles, including snow removal and seasonal grounds maintenance. Ensure all electrical, plumbing, heating, cooling, and building systems are maintained in safe and efficient operating condition. Assist with obtaining materials and coordinating access for contractors performing work on HopeTree properties as directed. Assist in preparing facilities for inspections and address maintenance issues identified through inspections. Maintain accurate documentation related to work orders, purchases, bids, inspections, compliance requirements, and completed projects. Assist with maintenance projects and facility improvements as assigned by the Director of Facilities Management. Exercise delegated purchasing and budget authority responsibly, completing tasks with attention to cost control and budgetary guidelines. Ensure proper use, storage, and maintenance of tools and equipment, following safety standards and manufacturer guidelines. Respond to emergency maintenance needs, including participation in on-call or after-hours response as required to support campus operations. Report facility issues, safety concerns, and maintenance needs to facilities leadership in a timely manner. Accept and adapt to operational changes while maintaining consistent service delivery. Perform other related duties as assigned in support of facilities operations and organizational needs. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information, required department documentation, policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures, and governmental regulations as required. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Report facility issues, safety concerns, and maintenance needs to facilities leadership in a timely manner. Needs to be able to communicate effectively through verbal and written mediums. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts as applicable. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where limited standards may exist. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. COMPUTER SKILLS Proficient knowledge of Windows processing systems and software (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid driver's license, clear DMV record, as well as acceptable background record.
