Mobile Crane Technical Service Advisor

Build a future you’re proud of—one lift, one customer, one solution at a time. In this mission-driven role, you’ll be the go-to expert helping distributors and customers commission, maintain, and repair Manitowoc Crane Group equipment while elevating their technical capabilities.

Position based in Manitowoc, WI. Reports to the Field Service Manager.

Your impact

• Enable safe crane assembly and commissioning at customer jobsites.
• Coach distributor teams on new-model setup, maintenance, and continuous technical training.
• Troubleshoot complex issues—electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical—when problems exceed local resources.
• Coordinate investigations into customer-reported issues and apply processes that reduce future service events.
• Collaborate with MCG personnel on service literature, parts availability, product requirements, and code compliance.
• Analyze field data to identify trends that influence design, production, service, and maintenance; recommend corrective actions.
• Document your work meticulously with service reports, timecards, and expense submissions.
• Serve as a trusted ambassador of our brand with a professional, integrity-first approach.

What success looks like in 6 months

• Multiple successful start-ups of new crane models with distributor teams trained and confident.
• Resolved high-priority field issues with clear root causes and preventive measures implemented.
• Accurate, timely reporting that strengthens fleet reliability insights and product improvements.

Qualifications you bring

• High school diploma plus 2+ years of mechanical or electrical experience; or technical degree plus 1+ year in a similar field.
• Hands-on technical service background; computer literate; proficient at reading and interpreting technical drawings; strong communicator.
• Ready to learn and work safely with 480V electrical power.
• Comfortable traveling up to 75% (domestic and international).
• Able to climb ladders and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Crane and hydraulic experience are strong pluses; experience with heavy equipment, aircraft, or military vehicles/electronics is valued.

Grow through formal technical training and on-the-job mentoring with senior Product Service Managers to expand your diagnostic depth and product knowledge.
