What You'll Do

As the Marketing & Communications Assistant, you'll help tell the Fairmount story through print, digital, social media, photography, and community engagement efforts.

Graphic Design & Brand Management

• Design brochures, newsletters, invitations, flyers, advertisements, signage, and digital marketing materials
• Maintain Fairmount's brand standards and visual identity across all communications
• Coordinate print production and work with outside vendors

Writing & Content Creation

• Write and edit stories, articles, announcements, website content, social media posts, and promotional materials
• Help produce Perspective , Fairmount's quarterly newsletter, and In Touch , our biweekly team member newsletter
• Develop resident, team member, volunteer, donor, and community stories
• Assist with donor relations and fundraising communications
• Proofread materials for accuracy, consistency, and brand alignment

Digital Marketing

• Update and maintain website content
• Create, schedule, and publish social media content
• Maintain marketing and communications content calendars
• Support email marketing initiatives and campaigns
• Track and report basic marketing performance metrics

Photography & Storytelling

• Capture photos of residents, team members, volunteers, events, and campus life
• Organize and maintain photo and digital asset libraries
• Assist with video projects and multimedia storytelling initiatives

Volunteer & Event Support

• Recruit, orient, and communicate with volunteers
• Maintain volunteer records and databases
• Coordinate volunteer appreciation events and health drive volunteers
• Assist with special events, community outreach activities, open houses, and promotional events

Administrative Support

• Track marketing projects and timelines
• Maintain editorial and production calendars
• Coordinate communications with vendors, printers, media contacts, and community partners
• Organize marketing files, records, and archives
• Support departmental projects and initiatives as assigned

What We're Looking For

We are seeking someone who:

• Has at least three years of administrative experience or a related degree
• Demonstrates outstanding written communication, grammar, and proofreading skills
• Has strong graphic design abilities and experience with design software
• Is comfortable working with websites, social media platforms, and digital content
• Brings creativity, initiative, and attention to detail to every project
• Can balance multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining high-quality work
• Possesses strong interpersonal skills and enjoys building relationships
• Demonstrates professionalism, emotional intelligence, and excellent customer service
• Has experience with Microsoft Office 365
• Supports Fairmount's mission and values
• Has an understanding of Mennonite culture (helpful but not required)
