Communications Assistant

At a consequential moment for America’s future, the Communications Assistant will help USGLC showcase how sustained U.S. engagement abroad advances America’s interests and builds a better, safer world. The Assistant will work across a fast-paced communications team to design, execute, and track a range of communications products – from social media, photography, and video to press monitoring, fact sheets, presentations, and event materials. The Assistant will also support audio/visual production and coordinate with external vendors to help bring USGLC events to life. This position will report to the Deputy Communications Director and is based in Washington, DC with a hybrid work schedule. Responsibilities The Assistant’s primary responsibilities will include: Social Media and Digital Support – Draft, create, and schedule engaging social media content across platforms; monitor social media channels to track metrics and engagement; assist with digital campaigns and initiatives. Photo, Video, and Multimedia Production – Capture photos and video at select USGLC events and coordinate with external vendors for events requiring additional support; edit short-form video and other multimedia content for digital channels; and organize and maintain USGLC’s photo and video assets. Content Development and Design – Work internally and with external vendors to design and edit reports, presentations, one-pagers, op-eds, event materials, and other digital and print content that brings USGLC’s messaging and work to life. News and Communications Support – Monitor relevant news, policy developments, and media coverage; compile and distribute daily news clips; and help identify timely content and communications opportunities. Communications Team Support – Collaborate across the Communications team on fast-moving projects, campaigns, and events, bringing strong organization, creativity, attention to detail, and a willingness to jump in where needed. Qualifications The ideal candidate has: Up to 2 years of media and communications experience in a Congressional office, nonprofit organization, campaign, private sector, trade association, or similar environment Outstanding verbal and written communication skills Comfort with multiple social media platforms, including LinkedIn, X, Instagram, and Facebook Proficiency with design and content creation tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite; experience with video editing software preferred Comfort learning and working with audio/visual equipment and event production technology Strong attention to detail and deadlines Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask Creativity and innovation Passion for U.S. foreign policy Compensation A projected salary range of $42,500 - $46,000 will be offered, commensurate with experience and qualifications. health and disability insurance retirement plan paid annual and sick leave federal holidays About the USGLC Since 1995, the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC.org) has been bringing together bipartisan political, military, business, farmer, faith, nonprofit, and community leaders from across the country to advocate for the strategic imperative of American leadership in advancing our security, prosperity, and values.
