Delivery/DevOps Agile Lead

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Delivery/DevOps Agile Lead based in the United States.

This is a senior delivery leadership role focused on improving how cross-functional engineering teams plan, build, release, and operate software.
You will combine Agile leadership, DevOps expertise, and hands-on software engineering knowledge to create more predictable and efficient delivery.
The role offers significant influence over team structures, delivery models, technical execution, and continuous improvement initiatives.
You will use delivery metrics and operational data to identify bottlenecks, reduce waste, and improve engineering productivity.
Working closely with engineering, product, technology, and business stakeholders, you will align priorities and drive successful outcomes.
You will also communicate progress, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership through clear reporting and executive presentations.
The position is remote and suited to a pragmatic leader who can balance technical depth, business priorities, and people-focused delivery.

Accountabilities

• Facilitate core Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, standups, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and other delivery sessions, while actively removing technical and organizational blockers.
• Partner with engineering and DevOps leadership to improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, release processes, deployment practices, and overall delivery reliability.
• Monitor and improve delivery metrics such as velocity, throughput, lead time, deployment frequency, predictability, quality trends, and mean time to recovery (MTTR).
• Evaluate and optimize team structures, Agile operating models, workflows, and delivery practices to increase productivity, strengthen accountability, reduce waste, and control delivery costs.
• Apply hands-on software development and SDLC expertise to review estimates, challenge delivery assumptions, identify coding-level inefficiencies, and help teams resolve technical execution challenges.
• Coordinate with engineering, product, architecture, DevOps, and business stakeholders to align backlogs, dependencies, risks, priorities, capacity, and delivery expectations.
• Improve delivery transparency through Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, dashboards, reporting tools, and other Agile and DevOps information systems.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives designed to reduce cycle time, improve deployment reliability, eliminate non-value-added work, and create more predictable outcomes.
• Support release planning, delivery readiness, dependency management, incident learning, and cross-team coordination.
• Prepare executive-level PowerPoint presentations, dashboards, status reports, delivery summaries, business cases, and leadership updates covering progress, risks, decisions, metrics, and recommendations.
• Promote practical Agile, DevOps, and SDLC best practices while encouraging continuous learning, innovation, and outcome-focused engineering.
• Use approved AI-enabled tools responsibly to improve delivery planning, workflow analysis, reporting, estimation, and team efficiency while protecting confidential, proprietary, and regulated information.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of experience leading Agile delivery, Scrum, technology execution, or delivery management within software engineering, DevOps, cloud, or SaaS environments.
• At least 3 years of experience working with engineering teams using modern SDLC practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, release management, or DevOps delivery models.
• Advanced knowledge of Agile methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, sprint planning, estimation, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and continuous improvement.
• Advanced understanding of DevOps and cloud delivery environments, including CI/CD, automated testing, deployment practices, release management, and operational support.
• Strong software engineering knowledge with the ability to understand development practices, system design, coding principles, technical estimates, and engineering execution.
• Expert understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle, including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, quality assurance, and technical governance.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional engineering, product, architecture, and DevOps teams, manage dependencies, remove impediments, and improve execution.
• Demonstrated experience evaluating and redesigning team structures, workflows, Agile operating models, delivery practices, or engineering processes to improve productivity and reduce costs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience translating delivery and operational metrics into actionable recommendations.
• Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, and related Agile, DevOps, reporting, and collaboration tools.
• Excellent facilitation, communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills, including experience communicating effectively with technical and business leaders.
• Working knowledge of AI-enabled technologies and their responsible application to software engineering, delivery planning, DevOps automation, estimation, reporting, and process improvement.
• Experience in healthcare technology, regulated SaaS, or other compliance-oriented environments is preferred.
• Experience with scaled Agile, team-of-teams coordination, quarterly or PI planning, multi-team dependencies, cloud engineering, Infrastructure as Code, observability, incident response, or site reliability practices is advantageous.
• Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), SAFe, PMI-ACP, or comparable Agile certification is preferred.
• Additional training or certifications in DevOps, cloud platforms, software delivery, product delivery, or release management are a plus.
