Project Manager - FederalJoin Clark Nexsen, a JMT Company, and become part of a dynamic, collaborative team dedicated to delivering exceptional service to our clients—while making a meaningful impact on our communities and the world through the projects we help bring to life.Position summary: A Project Manager in the Federal Market Sector will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing activities on single or multi-discipline projects of moderate to large scope involving architecture, engineering, planning, interior design or other areas of the firm's practice.Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance. Due to federal contract requirements, only candidates who meet U.S. government eligibility requirements for a Secret Security Clearance will be considered.Compensation for this position is $90,000 - $145,000, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description.Essential functions and responsibilities:Knowledge of Federal processes and criteria necessary to effectively lead, motivate, and communicate with a project team during scope and project executionWorking with the Principals and Design Managers to develop and present projects to clients, contractors, project team members, AHJ's, and members of the public through all stages of the projectCoordinating with Federal clients to ensure successful completion of projects that may involve either new construction or renovationFacilitating a professional and successful relationship between Federal client, contractors, and the project teamRunning project meetings and participating in management meetingsActively support Principals and Marketing in the Company's Federal marketing and business development activitiesPreparing contracts and fee proposals for review and participating in contract negotiations on large projectsEnsuring staff compliance with quality control policies and proceduresDeveloping and managing project planning, budgeting, and critical project objectivesVerify project consultants are properly licensed and insuredManaging the work, training, and vacation of project staffAssemble staff for project teams with input and concurrence from Principals, Department Directors, and Department HeadsWorking with, responding to, and taking direction from Principals and senior managementMentoring and developing Project ManagersAbility to travel is requiredProject responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Perform Principal duties as assignedMonitor scope/schedule creep for potential additional servicesProvide weekly progress reports to Federal ClientsMaintain project documentation in electronic formAssemble and maintain design discipline sheet mock-ups and work plansPrepare and monitor project budgets and schedules with input from each discipline and consultantsFacilitate project team meetings to review project scope, project progress, and schedule issues as well as team coordination, coordination with consultants, and problem solvingReview RFI and shop drawing submittal responses for appropriateness and completenessPrepare draft monthly invoices, 12-month invoice projections and monitor accounts receivableReview and approve project related expenses and consultant invoicesAssemble and review design "milestone" submittal deliverables and ensure completeness and quality of the submittalPerform project closeout and archiving tasksSchedule QC/QA reviewsSchedule and/or conduct periodic site visits during constructionRequired Skills:Previous experience with Federal projects may be given additional consideration.Ability to prepare effective and concise documentsPossess technical precision and creative design skillsAbility to make presentations to a variety of groupsHave a client-oriented attitude with a desire to provide outstanding professional servicesBe dedicated to his or her professional development as well as the success of colleagues and the firm as a wholeDemonstrated recognized leadership within the firm and outside the firmPossess excellent team leadership capabilities and abilitiesSpecialized experience in one or more areas of the firm's practicePossess knowledge and expertise to prepare proposals and contracts with oversight by a PrincipalDemonstrated ability to consistently deliver significant project volume on-time, on-budget and exceeding client and firm expectationsRequired Experience:Must be a U.S. CitizenMust be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance. PreferredA bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, interior design or planning may be given additional considerationAdditional consideration will be given for candidates who have obtained the following certifications:Licensure as a Professional Engineer, Registered Architect, or Interior Designer is preferredCertified Project Management Professional (PMP) is desirableA minimum of 6 years prior experience in an Engineering or multi-discipline Architectural and Engineering firmKnowledge of A/E Industry and terms commonly utilized in the Federal marketUnderstanding of sustainable design principles and design practices with LEED AP accreditation is preferredAdditional certifications such as CDT, CCS, or CCCA are encouraged to reflect personal growth in the profession and an ever-increasing knowledge base to enhance the design and documentation processA Project Manager should be able to effectively utilize current company software programs for word processing, e-mail, accounting, and information management. The selected candidate is expected to work in a JMT office location at least three days per week or as needed to perform assigned duties. While most of our work is desk-based, there may be times when standing, walking, bending and lifting of minimal weight are required.
