RN - PCU


Job Details:


• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 36 or 48 hour guarantee per week
• Every other weekend requirement (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
• Typically work 2 out of 3 winter holidays, otherwise every other holiday
• Self-scheduling system with manager balancing (opens 6 weeks in advance)
• 28-bed Progressive Care Unit with neuro focus
• Nurse to patient ratios: Days 1:4-5, Nights 1:5-6 (dependent on acuity)
• Care for patients with strokes, seizures, Guillain Barre, Myasthenia gravis, spinal injuries, thrombectomies, trauma ortho injuries, hematomas and bleeds
• Must have 2 years of MS, PCU, or ICU experience with experience in setting within the last 1 year
• Trach and vent experience is essential - willing to train on vents but must be open to learning
• Must have drip experience and be able to titrate drips including Heparin, Nitro, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, 3%, and Insulin
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIHSS
• Floating required to sister MS units across 6 different specialties
• Charge nurse responsibilities may include taking full assignment on nights or smaller assignment on days
• Work with RT equipment including vents, trachs, CPAP, BiPAP, Vapo therm, and ETCO2
• Any solid color scrubs required
• 1 shift general orientation plus 1 shift with preceptor
• Use Cerner charting system
• Must clock in and out at facility
• No call or standby requirements

The facility maintains high standards for patient care with experienced nursing staff and modern technology to support diverse patient populations requiring intermediate-level care.
