Archeologist/Principal Investigator- Texas

We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated Senior Archaeologist to join our growing cultural resources team. As a Principal Investigator, you will lead archaeological projects throughout Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and surrounding states, managing compliance with cultural resources laws and regulations including Section 106 and NEPA. Key Responsibilities

• Serve as Principal Investigator for archaeological projects ranging from desktop reviews, surveys, testing, and data recovery operations
• Supervise field teams, including technicians, crew chiefs, and project archaeologists
• Develop research designs and permit applications for archaeological investigations
• Conduct archival research and field surveys to identify and record archaeological and historic resources
• Coordinate with clients, resource agencies, and landowners/land agents
• Prepare technical reports, NHPA Section 106 consultation documents, and NEPA document sections
• Curate archaeological materials and field records at state and federal repositories
• Provide guidance on field protocols and safety considerations
• Perform quality control on project documentation
• Mentor junior staff members
• Assist with proposal writing, budgeting, and business development

Requirements

• Master's degree in archaeology, anthropology, history, historic preservation, or related field
• Minimum 5 years of archaeological field experience, preferably in cultural resources management (CRM)
• Ability to obtain regionally-specific permits (e.g., ARPA permits, THC Antiquities permits)
• Knowledge of Section 106, NEPA, and other state and federal regulations
• Experience supervising archaeological projects in the Southern/Gulf States
• Demonstrated technical writing ability with authored/co-authored reports
• Proficiency with digital field technology (GPS, Trimble, total station) and GIS applications
• Valid driver's license and good driving record
• Ability to work outdoors in remote locations under various weather conditions (field work approximately 25% of time)
• Strong organizational and project management skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) designation
• Experience with oil/gas/energy projects and related permitting
• Familiarity with state datasets (TX, OK, LA)
• Established relationships with SHPOs, THPOs, and federal agencies
• Experience with geoarchaeological assessments and/or soil science
• Expertise in drone photography and digital photogrammetry
• Specialized analytical skills (bioarchaeology, geophysics, ceramics, lithics, fauna, etc.)
• Working knowledge of the National Register of Historic Places criteria
• Experience using ESRI FieldMaps and other digital field tools
