With multiple operational tiers—including educational institutions, community programming, travel, media, and development—Qalam functions across various entities under a unified vision.About the RoleWe are seeking a hands-on Facility Service Technician to join our facility operations team. The ideal candidate is experienced with the key components of a commercial building and is comfortable working on-site with ladders, tools, and getting involved directly in maintenance and troubleshooting of all building components. You will work closely with our Facility Director and Facility Manager to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient operation of the building.What You'll DoTroubleshoot and repair issues with electrical systems, HVAC, and plumbingHandle on-the-ground tasks such as addressing water leaks, replacing plugs, and minor repairsAdjust airflow systems, clear choke lines, and perform preventive HVAC maintenanceRegularly inspect building infrastructure, identify issues early, and recommend solutionsFacilitate major repairs with offsite subcontractorsResponsible for all PM operations and routine building inspectionsManage and provide quality control of custodian contract / custodial employeesConduct routine inspections for maintenance, safety, and operational readinessEnsure compliance with building safety codes and coordinate safety proceduresMaintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are safe and functionalRequired Qualifications1–3+ years of relevant experience in building maintenance, HVAC, or similar rolesSolid working knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical circuits, and plumbing fundamentalsComfortable using ladders, hand tools, and diagnostic equipmentAbility to work independently and as part of a facilities teamStrong troubleshooting skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindsetPreferred QualificationsHVAC certification or relevant trade credentialsExperience in commercial or institutional facilities
