We welcome all healthcare professionals to join our thriving community and contribute to our pursuit for clinical excellence.**Department:**CC017704 MS Cancer Center Clinical Support**Job Description Summary:**## Position Responsibilities* Obtain and assess family and medical history and counsels patients and/or families in cases of genetic disorders or birth defects.* Discusses genetic testing process, possible results and benefits and limitations of genetic testing options. Obtains informed consent from interested patients.* Coordinates and researches all insurance coverage for genetic testing for patients. Researching the best tests based on patient’s insurance coverage. Prepares letters of medical necessity.* Assists families in understanding genetic disorders in their families; probable course of the disorder, available management strategies, medical recommendations from the geneticist and recurrence risks.* Documents in patient charts and develops follow-up recommendations for patient; documents cases and maintains appropriate records, ensuring confidentiality.* Develops and presents educational and related programs, and available resources as appropriate.* Coordinates and supports the execution of research protocol as needed; including recruitment and assessment of research subjects, provision of patient advice and support, and maintenance of research records.* Performs associated administrative or clerical tasks, which may include special projects, correspondence, and program funding activities.* Teaches and supervises training activities of residents and/or other health care professionals.
