Florida Conservation Corps (FLCC) – AmeriCorps Non‑native Plant Terminators (A.N.T.) Location: Sarasota, FL Position Overview and Responsibilities The Florida Conservation Corps AmeriCorps program is a 30‑year‑old program administered by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Park Service. Volunteers serve at approximately 25 state parks, focusing on habitat restoration through invasive plant management and community outreach. This role requires the volunteer to work in pairs, report daily to onsite park management, and submit service data to FLCC staff in Gainesville, FL. Perform non‑native plant removal using manual tools, herbicide application, and prescribed fire as directed. Assist with trail maintenance, public trail improvement and creation. Educate park visitors and surrounding communities through outreach, interpretation, and volunteer recruitment. Participate in disaster response recovery efforts when required. Compile and analyze service data for progress tracking and reporting. Maintain tool and equipment safety and upkeep. Work outdoors under all weather conditions; perform physical labor and lift up to 100 pounds. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of Florida ecosystems and resource‑management techniques. Communication skills – verbal and written. Computer literacy including use of Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to complete required background and fingerprint checks. Ability to attend in‑person Orientation in October2026 and fulfill 1,700 service hours. Capable of following verbal and written instructions and working collaboratively with staff and volunteers. Capability to work outdoors in inclement weather and perform manual labor. Other Job‑Related Requirements Pass a background check. Successful completion of required training and FLCC mandatory events. Minimum Qualifications The position is a Special Trust position under DEP Directive422 and requires successful completion of background screening. Your Specific Responsibilities Remove non‑native invasive plants using approved techniques. Complete at least 1,700 service hours before July31,2027. Assist with outreach, education, and volunteer recruitment activities. Maintain a monthly timesheet. Complete grant‑required training. Attend mandatory FLCC events. Pay Monthly Living Stipend: $2,200.00 Benefits $7,395 educational award upon completion of service. No cost insurance premium (deductibles still required). Access to Assistance Program.
