DSP (Direct Support Professional)

General Responsibilities:The Direct Care Professional is responsible for promoting a supportive, structured relationship for Individuals withDisabilities, which fosters Individual development and self-sufficiency; and enriches the Individual’s quality of life.The DC professional is responsible for maintaining a safe, supportive, home environment which facilitates thedevelopment of self-help skills among Individuals. The primary role is to provide the appropriate supports tailoredto the needs and desires of each Individual to enable each to live as independently as possible in accordance withthe Assessment and ISP. The DC Professional is expected to recognize when an individual is in a crisis and beable to utilize the appropriate behavioral and medical support services. The DC Professional will demonstrate acommitment to promoting normalcy, in the scheduling of and participation in activities, vocational training, and jobgoals; as well as daily home management routines that enable Individuals to lead productive and fulfilling lives.Detailed Job descriptionThe DC Professional will follow the predetermined Assessment and ISP as set forth by the team and ensure thatall aspects of the plan are carried out. This Professional will demonstrate a commitment to enrichment of theIndividual’s lives and the parameters and guidelines as set forth in the Assessment and ISP. This position reportsto the Community House Manager. Position Responsibilities:Job requirements and QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalentValid Driver’s LicenseMinimum of two years working with people in a customer service, health/human services or business environmentAble to make time to attend initial training and follow up training as needed.Clean background check and FBI clearance (If you do not have a valid background check and FBI clearance, QA can run one for you and forward the bill toward employee)Responsible in the overall care, health, safety and supervision of Individuals in careAbility to read and understand English as it relates to reading medical prescriptions, directions, recipes, policies, procedures and directions for managing the daily life and activities of Individuals and a safe and healthy homeProven communication skills both written and verbalCompassionate, patient and caring work attitudeAble to effectively multitaskMath aptitude.Health conscious and organized in maintaining clean, safe environmentValid CPR and first aid training (also available during basic training)Demonstrated home management skills, to include, budget management, cleaning, menu preparation and nutrition and emergency stepsSuccessfully complete physical examination within 12 months prior to employment and every 2 years thereafter including a Tuberculin Test/Chest X-Ray Position CompetenciesAbility to follow written directions/plans and record resultsWork well under pressure #J-18808-Ljbffr
