This role focuses on repairing, assembling, and troubleshooting aircraft captain chairs and seating components in a dedicated repair section. You will work in a back-shop environment, using mechanical and basic electrical skills to inspect, diagnose, and restore seating units to operational standards while following aviation maintenance procedures and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical repairs and troubleshooting on aircraft captain chairs, seating parts, and complete seating units.
• Assemble and disassemble aircraft seating components according to technical documentation, blueprints, and work instructions.
• Diagnose issues with seating systems using basic electrical and bench technician skills, including the use of oscilloscopes and other test equipment where required.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate repairs and assemblies.
• Work within a repair station environment, focusing on components from aircraft such as A320 pilot seats.
• Operate as a seat assembler in a back-shop or cell environment, handling multiple units and tasks as assigned.
• Work independently after training, managing assigned work orders and meeting quality and turnaround time expectations.
• Use personal basic hand tools safely and effectively to perform daily tasks.
• Follow all repair station procedures, safety guidelines, and compliance requirements, including documentation and record-keeping.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve technical issues and support continuous improvement in repair processes.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.

Essential Skills

• 1–2 years of mechanical experience in a hands-on repair, assembly, or maintenance role.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with mechanical assemblies and components.
• Experience performing troubleshooting on mechanical systems and components.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Basic electrical and bench technician skills, including familiarity with troubleshooting methods.
• Ability to use test equipment such as an oscilloscope in a bench environment.
• Capability to work independently after training and manage assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
• Ability to provide and use personal basic hand tools required for daily work.
• Ability to meet compliance requirements, including submitting to an FAA drug test and background check.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety in all repair activities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Aviation maintenance or aircraft seating repair experience is preferred.
• Experience working in a repair station, back-shop, or cell-based production environment.
• Familiarity with component repair and overhaul processes for aircraft systems.
• Comfort working with airline-related ground support test equipment and bench setups.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose issues with limited information.
• Good communication skills to interact with team members and share technical findings.
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic, as performance and attitude can influence the opportunity for permanent hire.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed, based on operational requirements.

Work Environment

This position is based in an air-conditioned repair station set up like a back-shop or cell environment, focused on aircraft seating components. You will work on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The work involves bench-level repairs and assembly using personal basic hand tools and test equipment such as oscilloscopes. After training, you are expected to work independently within your cell, handling assigned work orders and tasks. Overtime may be required as needed, though it is not guaranteed. The facility emphasizes safety, organization, and adherence to aviation maintenance standards in a structured, technical environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tempe, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
