Magnet Program Director - Mount Sinai Hospital & Mount Sinai Queens - Full-time - Days

DescriptionThe Magnet Program Director (MPD) is responsible for the implementation, maintenance and enculturation of plans and strategies to ensure that the Magnet Recognition Program (MRP) data bases are maintained, validated and reported including nurse sensitive indicators, the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI), core measures, patient satisfaction, RN Engagement and other metrics to demonstrate and surpass benchmarks and goals for clinical and professional development outcomes. The MPD interfaces directly with the Directors of Nursing for Research and Innovation, Professional Development/Education, Professional Practice, the Senior Director of Nursing for Quality and the Hospital Quality Department, Inter-professional & Support Departments, Administrators, Medical and Clinical Staff, overseeing administrative and daily operations of performance improvement, clinical intervention compliance and the MRPResponsibilitiesPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities The MPD develops and implements organizational strategies and infrastructure to support clinical quality, operational effectiveness and shared governance as essential components of the MRP. Provides education and consultation to internal and external constituents regarding the MRP. Under the direction of the CNO, and in collaboration with the VPs of Nursing Clinical Operations, the DONs and Interdisciplinary teams, coordinates the ANCC Magnet application, designation and re-designation process. Ensures that data is disseminated throughout the nursing organization, and assists nursing staff to interpret and use data to improve care or resolve identified problems Serve as the MPD coordinating the committee structure and collaborating on the processes necessary for the ongoing preparation of MRP reporting and documentation requirements.Collaborate with the Directors Professional Practice, Professional Development/Education, Quality, Center for Nursing Research and Innovation and the Clinical Directors to create, plan, coordinate and enculturate the Department of Nursing efforts in patient safety, quality and performance improvement, and aligned with the MRP.Provides education and consultation to internal and external constituents regarding ANCC MRP management activities and outcomes.Ensures that data is disseminated throughout the nursing organization, and assists nursing and staff to interpret and use data to meet and exceed the ANCC MRP requirements.Cultivate productive working relationship across all hospital departments. Develops and implements the use of an institutional set of nursing sensitive outcome indicators aligned with the ANCC MRP to monitor and improve careCoordinates the data to support the Model Components of the ANCC MRPEnsures outcomes are progressing to the level of Magnet recognition.Contribute to the Nursing Strategic Plan related to retaining MRP designationClinical Leadership In collaboration with Nursing, Medical and Quality Leadership, coordinates clinical intervention compliance activities and manages quality metrics related to the patient experience, nursing care delivery, regulatory agency mandates and the MRP.Applies Quality/Process Improvement methodology such as Lean, Six Sigma and SBAR.Evaluates the impact of changes in clinical practice and supports innovation to improve care delivery and resources in the environment of practice.Acts as a resource to nursing staff related to the ANCC MRP as an approach to meet the needs of patient-family focused care in inpatient and outpatient areas. Serves as chair of the MRP Committee. Ensures outcomes are progressing to the level of MRP recognition. Supports a structure that ensures outcomes consistent with the MRP Re-designation Process. Provides coordination and leadership in the execution of day to day program activities, as appropriate to program objectives and areas of expertise. Provides technical assistance, resource services, consultation and education to clinical departments relative to the MRP.Serves as a resource for patients and their families. Acts as a patient advocate utilizing the Patient Bill of Rights. Participates in promoting and maintaining a safe and therapeutic environmentProfessional Practice Supports the mission, philosophy, goals and objectives of the Department of Nursing and The Mount Sinai Health System. Advocates the highest standards of nursing practice. Supports an organization milieu that reflects the internalization and enculturation of the components of the ANCC MRP. Approaches patients, families and other members of the health care team in a professional, respectful manner.Serves as a professional resource to other members of the health care team.Demonstrates current knowledge and competence of quality and regulatory requirements and the MRP by maintaining professional involvement by: 1) Attending and participating in conferences, workshops, seminars, and courses as attendee, presenter or author. 2) Keeping abreast of current literature and trends in practice. 3) Participating in related professional organizations. Considers ethical issues in professional nursing practice.Treats co-workers, patients and families with dignity and respect.Maintains attendance and punctuality record in accordance with departmental standards. Adheres to dress code in accordance with departmental policy.Administrative Practice Prepares reports and analysis associated with the Department of Nursing Quality and the MRP i.e. senior management reports, departmental and clinical service program evaluation, quarterly reports, etc. Oversees and coordinates all data entry for accurate reports. Facilitates collaboration within the program between all departments, services and units. • Demonstrates knowledge of hospital, departmental and care center standards, policies, procedures and guidelines as well as regulatory agency standards. Assures readiness for ANCC MRP Re-designation.Participates in the development and implementation of continuous improvement programs to meet all ANCC MRP requirements. Is aware of and responsive to budgetary constraints and incorporates financial principles into program development and allocation of resources. Assists in the performance appraisal process of designated Nursing staff. The salary range for the role is $166400 - $239200 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
