Position Title: Inventory Control Manager Location: Melbourne, FL

Department: Supply Chain Position Type: Exempt / Full-time

The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for leading the Company’s daily inventory operations and ensuring accurate, efficient, and consistent inventory management across all branch locations. This position provides oversight of inventory processes, purchasing and replenishment activities, inventory accuracy, and related warehouse operations.

The Inventory Control Manager works closely with Branch Managers, Operations, Purchasing, Warehouse personnel, and other departments to maintain appropriate inventory levels, improve inventory controls, resolve discrepancies, and ensure materials are available to support operational and customer needs. This role is responsible for establishing and maintaining consistent inventory practices throughout the organization while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, accountability, and cost control.

Essential Job Functions

• Lead and oversee daily inventory control activities across all Company locations.
• Develop, implement, and maintain consistent inventory procedures and controls throughout the organization.
• Monitor inventory levels to ensure appropriate stock is maintained to support branch operations and customer requirements.
• Coordinate purchasing and replenishment activities based on inventory levels, usage, operational needs, and anticipated demand.
• Review inventory reports and identify shortages, excess inventory, discrepancies, obsolete materials, and other areas requiring attention.
• Research and resolve inventory discrepancies, including receiving, transfers, adjustments, returns, damaged materials, and other inventory transactions.
• Oversee cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory reconciliation processes.
• Analyze inventory variances and work with branch personnel to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Partner with Branch Managers and warehouse teams to improve inventory accuracy, organization, material handling, and accountability.
• Provide direction, training, and support to employees responsible for inventory and warehouse-related functions.
• Establish expectations and ensure branch compliance with Company inventory procedures.
• Monitor inventory movement between locations and ensure transfers are accurately and timely recorded.
• Item master management which involves material cost updates for all company locations.
• Support purchasing decisions by evaluating inventory usage, availability, lead times, and operational requirements.
• Identify opportunities to reduce excess inventory, unnecessary purchases, material loss, and waste.
• Maintain accurate inventory records within Company systems and ensure transactions are completed according to established procedures.
• Collaborate with Operations, Purchasing, Accounting, and branch leadership to resolve inventory-related issues.
• Assist with inventory planning for new locations, large projects, operational changes, and other Company initiatives.
• Recommend process and system improvements that increase inventory visibility, accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.
• Promote effective communication and collaboration between Corporate and branch locations regarding inventory needs and concerns.
• Perform other operational, inventory, purchasing, or management duties as assigned.

Leadership Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and guidance to employees involved in inventory and warehouse operations.
• Establish clear expectations for inventory accuracy, accountability, organization, and compliance with Company procedures.
• Train and coach employees on inventory processes, systems, and best practices.
• Work collaboratively with Branch Managers to address inventory performance and operational concerns.
• Promote consistency and accountability across locations while recognizing the operational needs of individual branches.
• Identify training needs and opportunities to improve inventory knowledge throughout the organization.
• Oversight of main Distribution Center operations and personnel.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of inventory control, warehouse operations, purchasing, and replenishment practices.
• Demonstrated ability to manage inventory processes across multiple locations or operational areas.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve inventory discrepancies.
• Ability to analyze inventory reports, usage trends, and operational needs.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective processes and internal controls.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and influence employees at different levels of the organization.
• Ability to work effectively with branch leadership, warehouse personnel, purchasing, accounting, and operations.
• Strong analytics, written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Proficiency with inventory management systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly advanced Excel.
• Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality when handling Company information.
• Must have a valid driver license and clean driving record.

Education and Experience

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, or a related field preferred.
• Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, purchasing, supply chain, or a related field preferred.
• Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
• Experience supporting inventory operations across multiple locations is strongly preferred.
• Experience within the construction, flooring, building materials, distribution, or related industry is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in both office and warehouse environments.
• Ability to walk, stand, bend, and move throughout warehouse and inventory areas as necessary.
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move materials consistent with the requirements of the position.
• Ability to travel to Company branch locations as needed.

Performance Expectations

Success in this position will be measured by the accuracy and reliability of Company inventory, consistency of inventory processes across locations, effective purchasing and replenishment practices, reduction of inventory discrepancies and unnecessary inventory costs, and the ability to provide effective leadership and support to branch operations.
