Welder – 1st & 2nd Shift AvailablePay: $19.00–$25.00 per hour, based on experience Shift: 1st Shift: 6:00 AM–2:30 PM | 2nd Shift: 2:30 PM–11:00 PMJob Description: We are looking for experienced Structural Steel Welders to join a steel fabrication team in the Niles, Ohio area. This position involves welding and fabricating structural steel components used in commercial buildings, industrial facilities, bridges, and other construction projects. The ideal candidate has previous experience with structural steel welding, heavy steel fabrication, and reading welding symbols and fabrication drawings. We are looking for dependable individuals who take pride in producing strong, accurate welds and are comfortable working with large steel components. Candidates must be able to complete a D1.1 structural welding test using a 1-inch steel test plate.ResponsibilitiesPerform structural steel welding on beams, columns, plates, and other steel componentsWeld structural steel assemblies according to fabrication drawings and specificationsRead and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and shop drawingsPrepare steel surfaces and joints for weldingPerform welding in accordance with established procedures and quality standardsInspect completed welds for defects and workmanshipUse grinders, hand tools, and other fabrication equipment as neededAssist with fitting, positioning, and preparing steel components for weldingMaintain accurate weld placement, size, and qualityIdentify and report welding or fabrication issuesFollow all shop safety procedures and properly use required protective equipmentMaintain a clean, safe, and organized work areaPerform other welding and fabrication duties as assignedQualificationsPrevious structural steel welding or heavy fabrication experience preferredAbility to successfully complete a D1.1 weld test on a 1-inch steel plate requiredExperience welding thicker steel materials and structural componentsAbility to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbolsKnowledge of proper welding techniques, joint preparation, and weld qualityExperience with MIG welding (GMAW) and/or flux-core welding (FCAW) preferredAbility to use grinders and basic fabrication toolsGood mechanical aptitude and attention to detailAbility to follow welding procedures and quality requirementsDependable attendance and a strong work ethicAbility to work independently and as part of a teamPrevious experience in a structural steel fabrication shop is a plusPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach throughout the shiftAbility to perform repetitive welding and fabrication tasksAbility to safely handle welding equipment, tools, and steel componentsAbility to work around large steel structures, fabrication equipment, and moving machineryAbility to wear required welding PPE, including welding helmet, gloves, and protective clothingComfortable working in an industrial steel fabrication environmentWhat We're Looking For: We are looking for skilled welders who are comfortable working with structural steel and heavier materials.
