Electrician

Job Description Under designated supervision, installs, modifies, repairs, troubleshoots, loads and tests new and existing electrical lines, systems, fixtures, controls and equipment supplying up to 550 volts. Job Qualifications Education: High school or equivalent. Experience: One year of general experience plus four years of specialized experience in electrical work. Ability to use all required power and hand tools and test equipment. Valid driver’s license as required by local/state laws or regulations. Certification requirements for those servicing stationary refrigerant systems: EPA approved testing program and ongoing Type I and II Technician certification (EPA Final Rule 608, 40 CFR Part 82 Subpart I). For low‑pressure systems (chillers), maintain Type III certification. Certification as a Universal Technician (Type I, II, III) is preferred but not mandatory unless work involves low pressure systems. Applications at overseas locations must comply with host country or installation engineer requirements. Schedule: Monday‑Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM (hours subject to change). Salary range: $24.81 – $28.95 per hour. Major Duties Works from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, electrical maintenance and repair manuals to plan and layout the routing, placement, type, size, gauge, balance, load, continuity and proper and safe operation of electrical lines, circuits, systems equipment, and controls. Installs, modifies, repairs, loads and tests secondary electrical distribution lines and circuits used to supply a wide range of voltage, amperage, phase and frequency requirements. Determines, arranges, places and routes conduits, distribution panels, boxes, circuits, fittings, connections and circuit breakers. Maintains and repairs various electrical systems, including appliances, lights, electrical drives, alarm and security circuits, clocks, etc., and may assist in repairing office equipment. Locates and diagnoses trouble in fire alarms, lighting, buzzers, clocks, thermostats, etc., using a variety of electrical test equipment. Prepares labor and material cost estimates and develops lists of materials required for the installation and maintenance of electrical systems. May perform air conditioning, carpentry, painting, and/or plumbing functions requiring skill and responsibility characteristic of work at grade M‑9 and below. May install, maintain, and repair electronic and electro‑mechanical cash registers, peripheral equipment, 480‑208 V circuits in support of computer equipment, transformers and distribution panels, video and audio transmission cables, and sound system equipment; performs preventive maintenance, routine repairs, and simple emergency repairs as required. May maintain/repair conveyor systems including main switches, relays, stop and start stations and motor drives; conducts periodic inspections and maintains the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) supporting computer equipment. As required, performs TDY travel of one or more days to other Exchange locations and may operate a motor vehicle to transport material and associates when required. Ensures compliance with fire, safety, sanitation, and security regulations. Initiates work orders for repair and maintenance. Performs other duties as assigned.
