CNC Set-Up Technician

CNC Set-Up TechnicianCore ResponsibilitiesSelect the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.Set up, adjust, and operate all the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers, height stands, calipers, etc.Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines.Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers.Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products and determine product dimensions and tolerances.Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs.Check work pieces to ensure that they are properly lubricated and cooled.Position and fasten work pieces.Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency.Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter.Advise clients about the materials being used for finished products.Confer with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information.Work closely with Engineering and or cutting tool suppliers to continuously improve tool life.Design and create basic fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts to meet special engineering needs.Job QualificationsStrong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn quickly.Commitment to continuous improvement through self-education and company sponsored training.3+ years of Machining and or Manufacturing experienceBasic Blueprint readingFollow instructions when given a project and take notes for personal growth.Willingness to enroll in a Tech/Trade School to expand upon Basic CNC Programming Skills not limited to basic machine shop courses.The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.Operate one or more CNC machines daily while maintaining all quality and safety requirements.Capable of lifting/pushing/pulling up to 30 poundsAbility to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms 8 hours or moreWilling and able to work overtime and as requiredWilling to work any shift as necessaryAssist team leaderRecord production dailyIdentify and isolate non-conforming productProperly and safely Load / Unload MachineCommunicate and understand work instructions both verbally and written in EnglishStrong work ethic / Positive attitude / Self-motivatedJob description is not all inclusive and the employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assignedKeep work areas neat, clean, and organized
