Healthcare Regulatory Associate (DC or NY)

DLA Piper LLP (US)

Summary The Healthcare Regulatory Group is seeking a mid‑level Healthcare Associate with 3‑5 years of experience and a strong background in health regulatory law applicable to the healthcare and life sciences industries including fraud and abuse, HIPAA, corporate practice of medicine, licensing, reimbursement, and assisting with the regulatory diligence and structuring of corporate transactions. As part of the team, the successful candidate will be exposed to counseling telehealth and digital health companies. Responsibilities and duties Provide regulatory and compliance counseling to companies and investors across the healthcare and life sciences industries. Assist with regulatory diligence and structuring of corporate transactions. Engage in transactions, investigations, and the development of compliance programs. Qualifications Education: JD from an accredited law school. Bar Admission: Licensed to practice in DC or NY. Experience: 3‑5 years of relevant experience in a law firm; direct and applicable AmLaw100 law firm experience preferred. Desired Skills Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Strong research, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. Attention to detail and superior organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively and independently, with conceptual thinking and persuasive communication. Management skills and good business and professional judgment. Essential Job Expectations Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with clients, lawyers, business professionals, and third parties. Produce deliverables, answer phone calls, and reply to correspondence promptly and efficiently. Provide timely, accurate, and quality work product. Meet deadlines and perform work duties as required. Foster positive work relationships. Comply with all firm policies and practices. Engage in both physical and sedentary activity, including working at a computer and participating in meetings and conference calls. Work under pressure and manage competing demands in a fast‑paced environment. Perform all other duties, tasks, or projects as assigned. Physical Demands Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sitting most of the time. Work Environment Hybrid: Regular in‑office presence with some flexibility for work‑from‑home.
