Position Summary

Omega Consulting & Food Safety Services is seeking two experienced Sanitation Leads to direct small sanitation crews at a cGMP-regulated dietary-supplement manufacturing facility in Winston-Salem.

This is a working-lead position , not an office-only supervisory role. The Sanitation Lead will assign work, demonstrate proper cleaning techniques, monitor employee performance, verify documentation, identify deficiencies, and work alongside the sanitation team.

Assignments will include facility sanitation, production-equipment cleaning, Master Sanitation Schedule tasks, major cleans, equipment disassembly and reassembly, CIP support, and COP cleaning.

Essential Responsibilities

• Lead assigned Sanitation Technicians during the scheduled shift.
• Participate in pre-shift meetings and communicate work assignments, sanitation requirements, hazards, and expected completion times.
• Review assigned MSS tasks, SSOPs, equipment-cleaning procedures, and client instructions before work begins.
• Ensure employees have the correct PPE, chemicals, tools, cleaning equipment, documentation, and area access.
• Assign employees to equipment, production rooms, facility areas, overheads, floors, walls, drains, parts, or other scheduled sanitation activities.
• Perform sanitation work alongside the assigned crew.
• Demonstrate proper dry-cleaning, wet-cleaning, foaming, scrubbing, rinsing, sanitizing, COP, and other approved cleaning methods.
• Lead or assist with equipment tear-down, parts control, cleaning, inspection, and reassembly according to approved procedures.
• Support CIP and COP activities after completing the required client training.
• Ensure employees do not use water, chemicals, tools, or cleaning methods that are not approved for the assigned area or equipment.
• Monitor cleaning quality throughout the assignment instead of waiting until the end of the shift to identify problems.
• Conduct visual checks and ensure deficiencies are corrected before presenting work for client inspection.
• Coordinate with the Site Manager, Sanitation Supervisor, and client representatives regarding task completion, verification, and re-cleaning.
• Ensure sanitation records are completed accurately and in real time.
• Confirm that employees document the correct equipment, area, date, time, chemical, concentration, and completion information.
• Report incomplete assignments, product residue, pest evidence, damaged equipment, missing parts, rust, leaks, standing water, unsafe conditions, and maintenance needs immediately.
• Reinforce cGMP, SOP, SSOP, PPE, chemical safety, Lockout/Tagout, allergen-control, and documentation requirements.
• Train and coach new Sanitation Technicians.
• Monitor attendance, punctuality, break compliance, teamwork, productivity, and conduct within the assigned crew.
• Maintain accountability for cleaning tools, equipment parts, chemicals, and supplies issued to the team.
• Support shift handoffs by clearly communicating completed, incomplete, and pending work.
• Assist with corrective actions and continuous-improvement activities.
• Perform other sanitation and leadership duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of sanitation experience in food, beverage, dairy, dietary-supplement, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, or another regulated manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to train, guide, or coordinate other employees.
• Working knowledge of cGMPs, SOPs, SSOPs, PPE, chemical controls, sanitation documentation, and Master Sanitation Schedule tasks.
• Experience performing production-equipment or facility sanitation.
• Ability to follow equipment disassembly and reassembly instructions.
• Ability to read and complete English-language sanitation procedures and records.
• Ability to provide clear verbal instructions and professional feedback.
• Basic problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to remain calm and organized when priorities or production schedules change.
• Reliable attendance and availability for the assigned Monday-through-Friday schedule.

*Preferred Qualifications*

• Previous experience as a Sanitation Lead, Senior Sanitation Technician, Line Lead, or Sanitation Supervisor.
• Experience with CIP, COP, parts cleaning, chemical-concentration testing, or major equipment cleans.
• Experience in dietary-supplement, nutraceutical, powder-processing, blending, or packaging operations.
• Lockout/Tagout, chemical safety, lift equipment, or food-safety training.
• Experience using electronic sanitation records, work-order systems, tablets, or digital forms.
• Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.

Physical and Work Requirements

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Stand and walk throughout an eight-hour shift.
• Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, crawl, and climb stairs or approved platforms.
• Lift, carry, push, or position items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Work around water, cleaning chemicals, powders, manufacturing equipment, noise, wet floors, warm areas, and cool areas.
• Wear all assigned PPE.
• Perform Lockout/Tagout, operate lifts, or use powered equipment only after receiving required training and authorization.
