House Physician

House Physician has a limited medical practice. They may only practice while employed under the direct supervision of an MD or DO. The supervising physician must be a member of the Karmanos Cancer Center Active Medical Staff. Applicants for this position must have one of the following: Be a graduate of an Allopathic US Medical School of a school recognized and approved by the US Office of Education OR Be a graduate of an allopathic international medical school . Responsibilities Collect, record and maintain sensitive patient information such as examination results, medical history and reports. Provide patient care that is compassionate, appropriate and effective for the treatment of health problems and the promotion of health. Diagnosis, work‑up, management and treatment of definitive cancers, recurrent and metastatic cancers, and post‑operative treatment of patients. Effectively communicate and demonstrate a caring and respectful behavior when interacting with patients and their families. Gather essential information about their patients. Make informed decisions about diagnostic and therapeutic interventions based on patient information, preferences, recent scientific evidence and clinical judgement. Perform competently all medical and invasive procedures considered essential for the area of practice. Develop and carry out patient management plans. Use information technology to support patient care decisions and patient education. Assist in providing health care services aimed at preventing health problems and maintaining health. Work with other health care professionals including those from other disciplines to provide patient focused care. Counsel patients with assistance regarding treatment options and obtaining informed consent. Respond to after‑hours calls from patients at home, and advise appropriate action. Adhere to all KCI policies and procedures. Qualifications License to practice medicine (MD or DO) in the State of Michigan. Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
