Job Title: RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 1 year of MedSurg/Tele experience License: RN Certifications: BLS, NIHSS; ACLS preferred Must-Have: - Experience with geriatric patients, cardiac conditions, neuro assessments, and general medical issues - Skills in NG tube placement/management, foley placement/management, and chest tube management - Ability to manage Pleurex and other drains, wound care, and central line/ports/midline blood draws - Competency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and titrating drips (Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, insulin) Description: The position involves providing patient care in a Medical/Surgical setting. The unit features a mix of geriatric patients with various diagnoses. Common patient types include those with cardiac issues, neuro conditions, and general medical concerns. Nurse-patient ratios typically range from 1:6-7 at night, occasionally going up to 1:8. Support within the department is provided by charge nurses, tele monitoring staff, and various therapeutic services. The facility operates with advanced technology, including an electronic medical record system and specialized equipment for patient care. Staff may float to other MedSurg units or areas where MedSurg patients are located as needed. Scheduling involves a weekend rotation and holiday expectations of 50% of holidays. The unit is focused on fostering a positive culture and teamwork among staff members. Professional attire is required with specific guidelines regarding scrub colors.
