The Durable Slate Company, an award-winning historic roofing contractor established in 1986, is seeking a Roofer to join our team. We specialize in historic slate, clay-tile, and copper roofing and are known for our commitment to quality craftsmanship, safety, and preservation excellence. We are looking for experienced roofers who are trained or interested in being trained in traditional roofing techniques. With our in-house training program, we can work with you to elevate your experience.

What You’ll Do Install, repair, and maintain historic slate, clay-tile, and copper roofing systems Work on architecturally and historically significant buildings Assist with material handling, job site setup, and clean-up Follow company safety standards and maintain a professional job site Collaborate with a team of skilled roofers and preservation specialists Travel to various job sites as needed, with paid travel time and logistics support What We’re Looking For Experience in steep slope roofing Comfortable working at heights using ladders, lifts, and scaffolding Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Valid driver’s license with no more than 4 points, ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check Strong work ethic, reliability, and teamwork Willingness and ability to travel to different job sites Desire for a long-term career in historic roofing and preservation Compensation Competitive pay, based on experience and skill level between $20-$45+ per hour Performance-based advancement opportunities Paid travel time between job sites Benefits Paid in-house and on-the-job training Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance after 90 days (Employer pays 50%) 401(k) retirement plan Quarterly bonuses for attendance and target achievement Paid Time Off (PTO) and Paid Holidays Promotion opportunities based on performance, not tenure Travel logistics and support for multi-site projects If you’re a skilled, reliable roofer who takes pride in historic craftsmanship, we want to hear from you.
