Retail Assistant Manager

Job Description

The Retail Assistant Manager supports store operations and leads a team of fewer than 10 employees to deliver excellent customer service and achieve sales goals. Reporting to the Store Manager, this role holds moderate autonomy in staffing and scheduling decisions and full operational authority in the manager's absence. The position involves occasional travel between store locations and offers growth opportunities toward becoming a Store Manager.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage and motivate a small retail team to meet performance targets
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to enhance the shopping experience
  • Control inventory levels and coordinate stock replenishment
  • Analyze sales data to identify trends and improve performance
  • Train staff on procedures, customer engagement, and sales techniques
  • Implement visual merchandising standards to maximize product appeal
  • Handle cash transactions and maintain accuracy in cash management
  • Develop and manage employee schedules for optimal coverage
  • Resolve conflicts promptly to maintain a positive work environment
  • Oversee daily store operations ensuring efficiency and compliance

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of retail management experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Retail Management and Customer Relationship Management
  • Familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) Systems and Inventory Management
  • Experience with sales reporting and team leadership
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
