Hiring: Funding Assistant

Pay Rate: $20–$25/hr on W2

Location: San Diego, CA 92111

Duration: 12-Month Contract

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

We are seeking a detail-oriented Funding Assistant to support Correspondent branch operations and assist with daily funding and closing activities. This role is ideal for candidates with mortgage lending experience who thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Receive and process document requests and funding packages
• Review document packages, identify issues, and submit paperwork
• Log incoming mail on designated spreadsheets
• Copy, scan, and upload documents into the correct scanned loan files
• Create collateral packages and deliver packages to the Note department
• Create and maintain initial bank packages until funding packages arrive
• Track and follow up on funding packages to ensure timely returns
• Stack and scan funding packages for review
• Verify MERS and review funding documentation
• Complete and distribute bank packages to Funders and Finance
• Review suspense and insuring issues and follow up as needed
• Escalate unresolved issues to the Branch Operations Manager
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a mortgage lending-related role preferred
• Knowledge of mortgage lending policies, procedures, and regulations is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with team members inside and outside the department
• Strong sense of urgency and customer service focus
• Professional and patient when working with internal and external stakeholders
• Strong ethical standards and commitment to company values
