Field Service Technician

Job Overview Wastequip WRX Compactor Services division has an immediate opportunity for a Field Service Technician to support our Houston, TX service operation. The role involves providing compactor repair services, maintenance, installation, and compactor rebuilding. The hourly pay rate is $30.00–$33.00, with higher pay for trash compactor experience. Shift hours are Monday–Friday 7:00a.m. – 5:30p.m., with on–call weekend rotation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform routine and emergency maintenance on commercial trash compactors, balers, and other hydraulic and electrical equipment. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues. Utilize basic welding and fabrication skills to repair and maintain equipment. Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company and OSHA standards. Maintain accurate service records and communicate effectively with customers and the service team. Provide training and support to junior technicians as needed. Travel throughout the service area in a company–supplied service truck for on–site repairs and maintenance, with minimal overnight travel. Qualifications Proven experience working on commercial trash compactors, balers, or similar hydraulic and electrical equipment. Strong mechanical aptitude for hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems. Basic welding skills. Basic fabrication skills. Strong commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols. Previous experience managing people preferred, as the position may grow into a leadership role. OSHA 10 certification preferred, but not required. Forklift certification preferred, but not required. CPR/First Aid certification preferred, but not required. Skills and Competencies Excellent troubleshooting and problem‐solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and customer service skills. Attention to detail and organizational skills.
