Job Summary

The Behavioral Health Clinician/Psychologist is responsible to perform psychological evaluations, conduct assessments, treatment planning, provide therapy, develop behavioral treatment plan and provide ongoing monitoring for those receiving mental health services. This includes the provision of psychological services including performing psychological evaluations needed for guardianship legal proceedings, authoring evaluations and behavioral treatment plans, performing psychological evaluations to determine eligibility for mental health services, and assisting with service delivery for adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities including children on the Autism spectrum. This position may include participation on BTPRC reviews and follow up for people served as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides clinical services to adults and children receiving services in accordance with their IPOS authorization.
• Provides ongoing clinical recommendations to determine the need for ongoing support.
• Provides clinical consultation and suggestions surrounding the characteristics of disease, illness, disabling conditions and wellness that directly or indirectly impact the person's state of physical or mental health and continuing care.
• Conducts psychological evaluations to determine eligibility for mental health services.
• Write and develop positive behavior support plans.
• Ensure all paid supports are trained on the positive behavior support plan.
• Work with the psychiatric clinic staff and provide therapy services, and positive behavior support plans for the individuals that attend the psychiatric clinic.
• Provide emergency crisis support as needed.
• Ensure that all evaluations and follow up meeting documentation is submitted in a timely manner (within 48 hours of service provision) and meets MDHHS and CLS quality standards.
• Conducts psychological evaluations for submission with guardianship documents for submission for court proceedings. Attends and provides court testimony based on the psychological evaluations completed as needed.
• Provides clinical support and consultation to ensure service delivery for children and adults supported by CLS as needed.
• Participates in the BTPRC review process for people served as needed.
• Participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to psychological service delivery.
• Participates in relevant trainings/conference attendance, internal and external committee involvement, and design and implementation activities.
• Conducts relevant training and presentations as needed and provides consultation to other departments, customers, and community partners/stakeholders as requested and assigned by supervisor.
• Maintains cooperative working relationships with other public and private agencies and business partners.
• Researches and identifies service needs, develops, mobilizes, and coordinates, both public and private resources in effort to expand service delivery options for individuals supported through the CLS.
• Remains abreast of CLS' strategic direction and emerging industry practices, challenges, and opportunities.
• Completes a minimum of 24 hours of professional skill development activity each year, in addition to funder training requirements.
• Is available for consultation regarding urgent needs, including outside of routine business hours if needed.
• Assumes other duties as assigned by the Clinical Manager.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Psychology with current, valid LLP credential with the State of Michigan. Minimum of two years of experience as a professional level employee serving persons with developmental disabilities, mental illness, co-occurring, or related conditions. At least one year experience working with children or adults who have developmental disabilities preferred. Qualified to conduct psychological evaluations and testing to determine eligibility and to assist with guardian petitions. Experience within Michigan's mental health system preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build and maintain positive internal and external partnerships. Strong organization, time management and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities while meeting critical targets and deadlines. Ability to work independently. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including occasional evening and weekend hours, if needed for urgent matters.

Travel Requirement

Scheduled and non-scheduled travel is required in executing essential duties and responsibilities of this position. Employees must provide their own transportation. Maintenance of a valid driver's license, an acceptable driving record, and vehicle registration and insurance in compliance with State of Michigan requirements are all continuing conditions of employment.

Training

On the job training will be provided or coordinated by the Clinical Manager.
