DevOps Engineer

Job Description

We're seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to support the team at a leading enterprise biotech company. This team develops software that powers sequencing and related products. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in GitHub Actions, AWS, CI/CD automation, and cloud infrastructure, with a strong focus on reliability, security, and scalable software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.

Build and maintain AWS-based infrastructure and automation using infrastructure-as-code practices.

Automate testing, deployment, environment provisioning, and release workflows.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex pipeline, infrastructure, and configuration issues.

Partner with software engineering, QA, architecture, cybersecurity, and release teams to improve delivery processes.

Provide technical leadership, establish DevOps standards, and mentor team members.

Skills and Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).

5+ years of experience in DevOps, build/release engineering, infrastructure automation, or software engineering.

Strong experience designing and supporting GitHub Actions workflows, including reusable workflows, artifact management, secrets management, runner strategies, and release integrations.

Hands-on experience with AWS services supporting development, testing, CI/CD, and deployment environments.

Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar platforms.

Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages.

Experience integrating software quality and security tools into CI/CD pipelines, including testing, dependency scanning, SAST, DAST, and policy-based quality gates.

Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating across distributed teams.

Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills. Experience with tools such as GitHub, Jira, Confluence, TeamCity, and Jenkins.

Experience with Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, containers, and related deployment tooling.

Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude.

Familiarity with Linux package management and distribution mechanisms, including APT/DEB and YUM/RPM.
