Engineer IV, Embedded Software Developer – Peoria, Illinois, USA Job Overview Responsible for completing general embedded software development assignments, as well as contributing to design teams on electrical projects for vehicle chassis, components, and systems. Develop embedded software control design concepts and documentation to support product manufacturing, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, product quality, and cost. Interface with Komatsu Engineering groups and suppliers for technical information exchange. Provide technical support to Manufacturing, Marketing, Sales, and Service for vehicle build, sales, and customer issues. Visit customer sites to resolve product issues, promote sales, maintain knowledge of the mining environment, and understand customer expectations. Key Job Responsibilities Lead or perform engineering projects to develop, maintain, and support components, products, and services per market demands and continuous process improvements. Perform or plan engineering evaluations, including investigations, calculations, and tests with guidance as needed. Provide conceptual and strategic solutions to project problems. Develop and participate in programs to communicate engineering issues and ensure compliance with global design and safety standards. Improve engineering processes and implement effective change management to achieve desired outcomes. Qualifications / Requirements Education / Experience : Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in a related engineering field and six (6) years of progressively responsible, post‑baccalaureate related engineering experience. Skill Requirements : Using real‑time and Linux operating systems to architect, develop, install, and troubleshoot custom applications. Reading digital circuit board schematics, writing software to control the circuits, and using tools (multimeter, oscilloscope) to troubleshoot. Creating technical documentation that explains system operation and testing procedures. Performing system failure mode analysis and risk assessments by applying electrical engineering principles. Reading and writing C programming language. Additional Information Telecommuting permitted within normal commuting distance of the worksite 1 day/week. Employees supervised: None Travel: up to 10% domestic and up to 5% international required. Supervisor: Lead Engineer II Hiring Range Base pay: $111,675 per year – $133,000 per year, plus additional compensation.
