Pay Rate: $23.60 – $49.20/hr on W2 (commensurate with experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking an entry-level Distribution Design Engineer I to support the planning, engineering, and design of electric and gas distribution systems. This role plays a key part in determining the size, location, and timing of power delivery infrastructure while balancing reliability needs, economic factors, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Work Package Development: Create detailed engineering design packages for overhead lines, underground residential distribution (URD), and underground cable/conduit systems.
- Field Engineering & Site Assessments: Conduct field engineering to identify site requirements and resolve conflicting utility locations.
- Engineering Calculations: Perform routine engineering, load, and design calculations following established policies and standards.
- Project Lifecycle Support: Conduct post-construction reviews to ensure quality, compliance, and design adherence.
- Collaborative Problem Solving: Coordinate with project peers and cross-functional teams to explain technical analyses, processes, and project designs.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or related field) or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience: 0 to 2 years of relevant experience in utility infrastructure, power distribution, or civil/electrical engineering design.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Fundamental understanding of electric or gas distribution principles, theories, and concepts.
- Basic proficiency with CAD software or utility mapping/GIS tools.
- Strong problem-solving ability with attention to detail and standard procedures.
