Chief Financial Officer

A tribal owned Healthcare company is hiring a Chief Financial Officer 30 minutes from Salt Lake City, UT. Relocation will be provided for the right candidate. This role serves as a strategic and operational leader for a growing healthcare organization serving Tribal communities. This executive will oversee all financial operations while partnering closely with the CEO and executive leadership team to ensure sound financial management, operational excellence, and long-term sustainability. This role requires more than technical financial expertise. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, emotionally intelligent leader who builds trust across departments, develops teams, and navigates complex situations with sound judgment and flexibility. The CFO will provide oversight for Accounting, Revenue Cycle, Health Information Management, Purchasing, and other areas as assigned, while serving as a strategic business partner to the executive team. Key Priorities Provide strong financial leadership and strategic direction. Partner effectively with executive leadership and department directors. Develop and mentor teams while fostering collaboration and accountability. Ensure accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls. Oversee revenue cycle operations, reimbursement, billing, and collections. Support grant management and Single Audit (A-133/Uniform Guidance) requirements. Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and Tribal healthcare requirements. Bring a hands-on understanding of accounting operations and be capable of stepping into details when necessary. Exercise sound judgment and adaptability when navigating complex or sensitive issues. Build relationships and communicate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Required Qualifications CPA preferred. Prior Chief Financial Officer experience required. Previous Controller experience strongly preferred. Minimum 5 years of senior healthcare financial leadership experience. Strong foundation in accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, and treasury management. Experience overseeing Revenue Cycle, Patient Accounting, HIM (health information management), Purchasing, and reimbursement functions. Knowledge of grants administration and Single Audit (A-133/Uniform Guidance). Experience with healthcare billing and reimbursement. Experience with contract negotiations and payer relationships. Demonstrated success leading and developing teams. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Highly Preferred Experience Experience working within Tribal healthcare organizations. Understanding of Public Law 93-638 (Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act). Experience working with Indian Health Service (IHS) and 638 contracts. Familiarity with Tribal sovereignty and culturally responsive leadership. Experience serving Native American communities. Responsibilities Direct all financial operations and reporting functions. Ensure monthly financial statements are completed timely and accurately. Maintain strong internal controls and balance sheet reconciliations. Prepare forecasts, budgets, and financial analyses. Lead annual budgeting and capital planning processes. Oversee revenue cycle performance and optimize cash collections. Monitor AR metrics, denials, and reimbursement trends. Manage accounting, patient accounting, HIM, purchasing, and related departments. Support grant compliance and audit activities. Advise executive leadership on financial strategy and business decisions. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational policies. Develop and mentor staff while creating a culture of accountability and collaboration.
