Front Desk Host

Description Act with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture, values and philosophy of Hyatt Place and displays dignity and respect for others at all times. Assist guests with check‑in and check‑out processes (verifying registration, address and credit information, balancing bank, posting charges) and go above and beyond to provide assistance such as luggage help, coffee, directions, wake‑up calls and future reservations. Provide information to guest and visitor inquiries; coordinate all guest requests for special services and courteously inform guests of hotel services, features and room amenities. Answer hotel telephones courteously and efficiently following Hyatt Place standards. Prepare, set up, stock, take down, clean and provide quality beverages and food products consistently for all guests by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards, while being familiar with the POS system and safe food handling. Assist guests with food orders and serve food and beverage items in a friendly, professional and timely manner, using suggestive selling techniques. Maintain a clean, organized environment by clearing tables during service and preparing all food items according to recipe cards and handling procedures. Maintain proper par levels of production according to estimates on the production sheets and maintain top‑quality freshness. Use leftovers and maintain proper storage on the hot food side; label and date all food within 7 days of opening, use the waste log when disposing of spoiled product, and maintain sanitation and cleanliness of all dishroom, kitchen aisle and dock areas. Break down trays, set up dish machine, wash dishware, and sort and store all clean china, glass and silverware using proper procedures. Empty trashcans and wash inside and outside. Thoroughly clean dock area and dumpster. Break down dish machine and clean inside and outside. Assist with the setup of meeting rooms, deliver food for meeting room/group requests, and clean up and pick up dirty dishware from meeting rooms. Clean all breakdown tables. Clean tile walls and baseboards. Perform any other job‑related duties as assigned. Prepare all necessary items for the next day, including all bread products, meat, and items requiring thaw time; also prepare all breakfast sandwiches for weekdays unless directed otherwise. Receive food and supply deliveries, check against the invoice slip, reject expired, damaged or spoiled items, and rotate inventory from front to back in a timely fashion. On Sundays, prep/cook the specified meal offered to associates, deliver it to the employee break room, and monitor and replenish as necessary. Check for a Banquet Event Order (BEO) daily to see if any food/beverage service is required for a meeting/group for the day; prep items and assist in setup and delivery. Follow Hyatt Place operational policies and procedures, including those for cash and credit card handling, safety and security, and all other mandatory procedures to consistently exceed guest expectations. Qualifications Customer service experience required, preferably in a hotel or related field. High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be able to work weekends and holidays. Requires strong command of the English language, including speaking, reading and writing. Ability to learn quickly and work in a fast‑paced position with constant guest interaction. Must be able to multi‑task and work under pressure. Ability to lift, pull and push moderate weight (minimum of 20 lbs). Must possess basic computer skills, e.g., Word, Excel. Must be 18 years or older. Must be a team player.
