Truss Estimator

Company: Precision Truss | Northern California Location: Citrus Heights, CA (On-site)

Precision Truss is a growing Northern California roof and floor truss manufacturer serving residential, multifamily, custom home, and commercial builders.

We are seeking an experienced Truss Estimator who can accurately price projects, understand construction plans, communicate effectively with contractors, and help us win profitable business.

We are looking for someone who takes ownership, communicates well, and understands that accurate estimating is critical to both customer satisfaction and company profitability.

The Truss Estimator is responsible for reviewing construction plans, preparing accurate truss estimates and quotes, coordinating with customers and the design team, and helping ensure projects are priced competitively while maintaining appropriate margins.

This position works closely with Sales, Design, Operations, and Customers .

• Review architectural and structural plans for residential and commercial projects.
• Perform accurate roof and floor truss takeoffs.
• Determine quantities, spans, sizes, profiles, and special conditions.
• Identify design, engineering, framing, and constructability issues that may affect pricing.
• Prepare accurate and timely quotations for customers.
• Price lumber, plates, hardware, engineering, delivery, and other applicable costs.
• Understand the difference between markup and gross margin and protect company margin.
• Work with the Design Department to identify unusual or difficult conditions before quoting.
• Communicate with builders, contractors, framers, and sales personnel regarding project requirements.
• Clarify scope, exclusions, assumptions, and customer requirements.
• Maintain accurate estimating information and quote documentation.
• Follow up on outstanding quotes when appropriate.
• Assist Sales in developing competitive and profitable proposals.
• Identify opportunities to increase order size and customer frequency.
• Help identify estimating errors before projects enter production.
• Maintain a high level of accuracy under time pressure.
• Take ownership of problems rather than passing them to someone else.

• Construction estimating experience.
• Ability to read and understand architectural and structural plans.
• Strong understanding of residential construction and framing.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• High attention to detail.
• Strong computer skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively with contractors and construction professionals.

• Previous roof or floor truss estimating experience.
• Experience with MiTek or similar truss software.
• Experience with lumber pricing and construction material costs.
• Framing or structural construction experience.
• Experience working directly with builders, contractors, or framers.
• Understanding of engineered wood products and structural systems.

Success in this position will be measured by:

Salary: $80,000 - $120,000 per year
