1st-Shift Electrical Technician: PLC & Automation Expert

Vermont Cider Company is hiring an Industrial Electrical Technician/PLC Specialist to join our maintenance team on 1st shift. In this hands-on role, you will troubleshoot, repair, and improve highly technical production equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Schedule : 1st Shift | Monday–Thursday | 6:00 AM–4:30 PM Pay : $24.00–$40.00 per hour Pay is based on skills, experience, shift, internal equity, and business needs. Key Responsibilities Complete work orders and provide maintenance and electrical support for production equipment. Troubleshoot and maintain PLC- and VFD-controlled high-speed production equipment and batch processes. Disassemble, repair, and reassemble equipment using precision measurement tools. Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, and equipment manuals. Follow plant safety, 5S, and Standard Operating Procedure requirements while completing assigned work efficiently. Analyze process data and support equipment maintenance and continuous improvement activities. Perform preventive maintenance and predictive maintenance tasks to improve equipment reliability and uptime. Use the maintenance management system to document corrective and preventive maintenance, source and issue parts, record equipment issues, and enter inspection or measurement points. Prioritize and self-schedule maintenance work around production needs to support production and maintenance key performance indicators. Electrical experience required; 3 years of industrial electrical or programming experience preferred. Two-year technical degree and/or licensed electrician credential preferred. Experience troubleshooting motor control and mechanical systems. Knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLCs, VFDs, instrumentation, and other industrial control components preferred. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics. Ability to identify root causes, propose solutions, and implement repairs or improvements. Ability to perform calibrations, installations, and maintenance of process and analytical instrumentation. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office; experience with computerized maintenance management systems preferred. Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience in high-speed packaging or highly automated continuous process environments preferred. Ability to perform mechanical work such as valve replacement, conveyor bearing and chain replacement, motor and gearbox replacement, and lubrication routes. Ability to work overtime, alternate shifts, and provide after-hours support as business needs require.
