Materials Control Manager

Materials Control Manager – Columbia, SC Trane Technologies is hiring a Materials Control Manager in Columbia, SC. The role manages production scheduling, materials handling, and materials projects across multiple factories and Product Growth Teams, and serves as a key enabler of lean and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Coordinate day‑to‑day activities of team members to move, handle, and store goods according to company protocols. Interpret replenishment orders, line requests, and shipping readiness, aligning with customer demand. Monitor effectiveness of handling procedures and space utilization, recommending improvements. Prioritize and assign tasks to meet work schedules and production targets. Supervise daily activities of material handling staff to ensure production schedules and targets are met. Impact quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of cross‑functional teams. Train new workers in plant operating procedures and standards. Ensure all materials are handled correctly and equipment is operated safely. Interact with internal contacts (cross‑functional teams, frontline supervisors, managers) to explain policies and procedures. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum 5 years experience in integrated materials management within a manufacturing environment embracing lean concepts, MRP and progressive supplier relationships. Minimum 3 years managerial experience focusing on standardizing planning & execution, reducing sourcing complexity, and talent development. Experience in rate‑based or flow line (non‑MRP) and job shop manufacturing environments. Experience with operations, inventory management, MRP, visual management systems, scheduling, and lean manufacturing processes.
