Electrical Engineering Director

Brand-new opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer to move beyond individual project delivery and lead an electrical engineering team.

You’ll lead the technical direction, quality, workload, and development of the electrical discipline while remaining connected to projects and clients. The role combines engineering leadership with people development, project oversight, resource planning, and client relationships.

The Job:

As the Electrical Engineering Director, you’ll provide leadership across several key areas:

• Lead the electrical engineering team and help establish priorities, expectations, and technical direction
• Coach and mentor engineers while supporting professional development and individual growth
• Oversee electrical design quality, QA/QC, code compliance, and engineering standards
• Identify opportunities to improve design practices, tools, processes, and technical consistency
• Forecast upcoming workload and coordinate staffing and resources across projects
• Help ensure electrical projects are delivered successfully against scope, schedule, budget, quality, and profitability objectives
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and project stakeholders on multidisciplinary work
• Build and maintain productive relationships with existing and prospective clients
• Participate in proposals, interviews, scope development, fee development, and business development activities
• Support recruiting, performance management, and broader leadership initiatives as the team continues to develop

About You:

We’d especially like to speak with electrical engineers who have developed both strong technical judgment and the ability to lead others. A background that could translate particularly well includes:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• 10+ years of electrical engineering experience
• Several years of team leadership or supervisory experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure, with Minnesota licensure or the ability to obtain it
• Understanding of electrical design, applicable codes, engineering standards, and current industry practices
• Experience mentoring, delegating work, developing staff, and setting team expectations
• Ability to prioritize work, solve problems, and manage competing project and staffing demands
• Communication skills and comfort working directly with clients and project stakeholders

Compensation & Benefits

The expected salary range is $175,000–$200,000, depending on education, experience, qualifications, and other relevant considerations.
