Summary of Position Reporting to the Lab Director, as a Clinical Laboratory Assistant you are responsible for receiving and preparing internal patient samples for urinalysis utilizing an LC-MS system. Strong attention to detail combined with reliable and consistent work are key to this position. Responsibilities Organizes work by matching computer orders with specimen labeling; sorting specimens; checking labeling; logging specimens; arranging reports for delivery; keeping work surfaces clean and orderly. Maintains quality results by running standards and controls, verifying equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and advanced troubleshooting; calibrating equipment utilizing approved testing procedures; monitoring quality control measures and protocols. Accurately documenting in EMR system. Providing updates on testing process as well as reiterating test results if necessary. Contributes to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers by following established standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations. Maintains patient confidence by keeping laboratory information confidential. Performs other laboratory duties as assigned. Skills and Abilities Must be responsive and comfortable handling and processing urine samples. Detail-oriented, with an emphasis on precision when accomplishing laboratory tasks. Education and Experience Experience using eClinicalWorks or other EHR system preferred. 1 year clinical experience preferred. Associate Degree required, Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Prior experience with LC-MS preferred.
