Grocery Store Assistant Manager

As Assistant Store Manager you are the right‑hand to the Store Manager. You will be well trained to cover all aspects of store operations, achieve key performance and financial objectives, and support the team in delivering an exceptional customer experience. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33305 Schedule and Hours Store Hours: Monday to Saturday 7 AM – 8 PM; Sunday 9 AM – 6 PM Benefits Healthcare Benefits available on the first day Annual Bonus: 10% performance‑based bonus potential Immediate 401(k) retirement plan with company match (no waiting period) Company Profit‑Sharing after 90 days of employment Holidays Off – Closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day, and Easter Responsibilities Assists with the management of all aspects of store operations, including customer service, store condition, and the selection, training, supervising, and performance management of Store Sales Associates Assists in unloading all merchandise from delivery trucks, organizes merchandise, and transfers merchandise from stockroom to store Collaborates with team members to ensure the store meets or exceeds established merchandising standards for product quality, presentation, and visual marketing/merchandising Maintains sales, earnings, and shrink reporting Assumes full management responsibility in the absence of the Store Manager Qualifications Two (2) or more years of grocery or retail management experience Hands‑on leadership experience in grocery retail (e.g., Produce, Deli/Bakery, or Meat/Seafood departments) is highly preferred but not required Physical requirements: Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs, with frequent lifting above shoulder height Schedule availability: Ability to work a flexible, full‑time schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays Minimum age of 18 years High School Diploma or equivalent Successful completion of pre‑employment checks, including a drug screen and criminal background check Valid driver’s license and safe driving record per GFS policy Equal Employment Opportunity is a matter of policy at Gordon Food Service, Inc. and we are committed to a work environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity.
