The role involves system design, detailed mechanical design and analysis, manufacturing drawing creation, procurement, and production support throughout the company. Responsibilities Product Design Analyze requirements and statement of work to clearly define problems and objectives. Provide practical design approaches with real‑world applications and examples. Generate calculations and matrices to support design decisions – free body diagrams, mechanical load, life cycle, and trade studies. Lead design and development of products and tools to a technical readiness level for deployment in a production or research environment. Conduct all design duties using computer‑aided design software. Manufacturing Support Generate part and assembly drawings for machine shops and integrators. Create work orders for Wilder Systems technicians to assemble designed products and tools. Provide quality assurance and assembly support for technicians. Documentation Develop documents covering part drawings, bill of materials, work instructions, maintenance, and product functionality. Provide diagrams and information to support design reviews and product proposals. Create and deliver presentations to communicate design concepts and decision making to internal and external stakeholders. General Requirements Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. 4 or more years of professional experience in mechanical engineering or a related field. Knowledge of design and visualization software. Strong communication, organizational, time‑management, and decision‑making skills. Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings and a solid understanding of basic electrical and mechanical control systems. Self‑motivated and capable of working well under general supervision. Works well in high‑pressure situations, tight deadlines, and with customers. US Citizen or Permanent Resident. Able to travel occasionally. Required Experience Highly proficient use of SolidWorks CAD software. Part drawing generation and attention to detail. Knowledge of GD&T and design for manufacturing techniques. Strong familiarity with metal fabrication. Intermediate level of basic machinery design – includes design process, engineering mechanics, materials, failure prevention, and characteristics of principal mechanical elements. Preferred Experience Experience with aerospace automation. Automation and robotic work experience. Finite element analysis. Background knowledge of CATIA. Product data management software.
