Shipping Specialist Company: Monogram Aerospace Fasteners Primary Location: 3423 S Garfield Avenue, Commerce, CA 90040 USA Workplace Type: On-site Employment Type: Hourly | Full-Time Function: Material Control / Logistics Equal Opportunity Employer Minorities/Women/Veterans/Disabled Main Duties & Responsibilities Summary Objectives Ship, receive, store, and distribute materials, finished goods, and products within established procedures. Maintain records and logs. Provide status reports of items due. Verify shipment quantities, lot numbers, and part numbers and correct any discrepancies. Prepare shipping reports for required employees and Supervisor/Manager. Communicate with vendors and carriers regarding shipments, ship dates, and customer specifications. Prepare BOLs, packing slips, and other paperwork required for shipping. Investigate shipments from Sales/Customers for root cause and dispositions. Description of Essential Functions and Responsibilities Facilitate work movement through the shipping department under direction, including counting, closing, reservations, packing, shipping, and inventory cycle counts as needed. Provide status report of each item in the shipping area, with dollar value of each order, to be sent to Supervisor/Manager at 7:30 and 1:30 daily meetings. Complete shipping closes for each job counted by total quantity. Report to PC if there are discrepancies. Do this within a 10–15 window to keep clerks on track with shipments. Close jobs in the Component/Blank cages by total quantities for master paperwork (routers) when available. Perform first issues for each component pulled and performed in the SyteLine system. Verify with Supervisor/Manager all shipments that were assigned or sent by email. Include this list with end‑of‑day report. Ensure all 5’s are done by the end of the shift and the area is cleaned prior to leaving. Put away all partial inventory at the end of each shift; nothing should remain on the racks. Track incoming orders hourly or as needed per product flow, distributing and prioritizing work. Keep Supervisor/Manager informed. Complete Cycle Count reports once issued and verify the report when printed and disbursed. This will be done monthly, as advised by the Logistics Manager or Inventory Control Clerk. Audit all areas quarterly per Cycle Count procedure guidelines and instructions from the Logistics Manager or Inventory Control Clerk/Supervisor. Prepare orders for shipment. Verify counts, lot numbers, part numbers, and paperwork for packages. Pack material per customer specification and seal and label all packages. Review and verify all orders from shipping employees on the table before Supervisor sign‑off. Process paperwork for shipments, including packing slips, bills of lading, manifests, carrier logs, etc. Arrange shipments through various carriers, ensuring cost efficiency and timeliness. Verify after each auto bagger run to ensure correct information is on the bag and it meets customer requirements. Other employees may verify and initial the router to prevent errors. Participate in problem solving, team building, and all team activities to improve processes, production quality, and shipping operations. Use interpersonal skills and good written and verbal communication. Assist others in the department. Equipment / Process Responsibilities Perform duties where property, tools, equipment, or machines may be damaged or where man‑hours are lost through improper daily maintenance and processing attention. Material or Product Responsibilities Perform duties that require close attention to work and supporting documentation. Responsible for accuracy of shipments, receipts, and inventory. Responsibility for Work of Others Accuracy of communication is mandatory for successful inventory control and proper shipment of production items. Communicate to appropriate personnel any problems or concerns regarding shipment schedules or inventory processing. Train employees of lower classifications in shipping and receiving methods and procedures. Safety Responsibilities Good house‑keeping, knowledge of machine safety, and adherence to Company safety rules. Initiative and Ingenuity Initiative required to solve problems associated with inventory control, storage, and rotation of stock as well as shipping products in a timely and cost‑efficient manner. Ingenuity required to package and ship goods most efficiently and store inventory to meet production needs. Suggest improvements to workflow or equipment operation. Perform additional work as tasks are completed and as needed by company priorities. WORK ENVIRONMENT Environmental Surroundings – Work in a warehouse/shipping environment of a machine shop where noise, exposure to outside weather conditions, and repetitive nature of the job are less desirable than in a typical office environment. Unavoidable Hazards – Possible hazards related to cuts, bruises, muscle strains. Exposure to metalworking fluids. Appropriate protective wear regarding eyes, ears, and clothing required. EFFORT Physical – Able to lift over 30–50 pounds with assistance or proper equipment. Requires strength in opening and maneuvering crates, boxes, raw materials, etc. Able to reach, bend, stretch, and manipulate small parts with hands and fingers. Capable of operating a forklift. Most assignments require continuous standing and/or sitting for periods exceeding 15 minutes at a time. Mental – Work can be highly repetitive and monotonous, but some aspects of inventory control and shipping may require improvisation and ingenuity. Organize workflow for best efficiency. Visual – Close attention to detail in documentation. Capable of accurately counting various size pieces for inventory and shipping requirements. Requires close and distance vision, color vision, and depth perception. This role is onsite. Monday through Friday 5:00am to 1:30pm LG10 Qualifications Education / Training Demonstrated ability to read and write English for company shop documents, shipping and receiving documentation, and computer software entry and processing requirements. Must be capable of applying mathematical operations including fractions and decimals as required by warehouse/shipping operations. Equivalent or higher than 9th grade level. Experience Requires 5 years of work experience in warehouse/shipping/receiving operations or equivalent skills and knowledge. Must have maintained an inventory control system similar to that used by the Company. Must be familiar with domestic and foreign shipping rules and regulations. Demonstrated leadership and computer skills in warehouse/shipping/receiving operations. Compensation In compliance with all state and city transparency requirements, the expected pay range for this position is $31.42 to $37.89 per hour. Compensation can vary based on qualifications, skills, experience, competencies, and geographic location. Some roles may qualify for extraincentives such as equity, commissions, or other variable performance‑related bonuses.
