Dishwasher

Kitchen Staff Position

Clean dishes, utensils, food preparation equipment, and kitchen.

Work Performed

1. Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, or pans using dishwasher or by hand.
2. Place clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in storage areas.
3. Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly condition.
4. Stock supplies such as food, dishes, and utensils in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and salad bars.
5. Inspect and clean areas of responsibility.
6. Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas.
7. Clean garbage cans with water or steam.
8. Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas, by hand or using hand trucks.
9. Assist in cleaning and preparing various foods for cooking or serving as needed.

Qualifications

1. Ability to understand and follow directions and requests for assistance.
2. Ability to work cooperatively in a kitchen environment.
3. The skills necessary of this position are typically acquired through a minimum of two months on the job training or through related experience.

Physical Requirements

1. Ability to stand and walk during 6-to-8-hour shifts.
2. Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and wipe.
3. Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 60 pounds and place items on high and low shelves in storerooms and freezers.
4. Ability to work in a frequently hot and damp environment and use proper precautions with various types of chemicals.
5. Ability to frequently immerse hands in water.
