Cat Shelter Manager

Gifford Cat Shelter – the first free‑roam, no‑kill shelter in the country – seeks a Shelter Manager to oversee the daily operation of the shelter. This role is responsible for ensuring excellent animal care, a clean and safe environment, strong volunteer management, and efficient administrative processes. This is a hands‑on role that combines animal care, cleaning, leadership, organization, and problem‑solving in a fast‑paced environment. Major Responsibilities Overseedailyshelteroperationsandensurehighstandardsofanimalcare. Administermedicationsandmonitorcatsforhealthorbehavioralconcerns. Cleanandmaintaincatrooms,litterboxes,feedingareas,andcommonspaces. Train,supervise,andsupportvolunteers. MaintainaccuraterecordsusingCRMandsheltermanagementsystems. Coordinatewithadopters,fosters,veterinarians,andotherstakeholders. Manageinventory,supplies,andfacilityneeds. Respondcalmlyandeffectivelytounexpectedsituationsandemergencies. Preferred Qualifications Musthaveapassionforcats. Minimum3–5yearsofexperienceinafast-pacedworkenvironmentwithsignificantresponsibilityandaccountability. Provenabilitytomanagemultipleprioritiesandstayorganizedunderpressure. Strongcomputerskillsandexperienceusingdatabases,CRMsystems,orsimilarsoftware. Experiencesupervising,training,ordirectingothers. Excellentcommunicationandproblem-solvingskills. Comfortablehandlingcatsandadministeringmedication(orwillingtobetrained). Abilitytoperformphysicallydemandingwork,includingcleaning,liftingupto50pounds,bending,andstandingforextendedperiods. Gifford Cat Shelter is staffed 365 days a year; this is a full-time, 5 shifts per week role, one shift must be a weekend day. Driver'sLicenserequired. Highly organized and detail-oriented. Self-starter who takes initiative and follows through. Comfortable balancing administrative work with hands-on responsibilities. Calm, dependable, and able to make sound decisions in a dynamic environment. Shares a strong commitment to animal welfare and maintaining high standards of care.
