Geotechnical Drilling AssistantBraun Intertec is seeking a geotechnical drilling assistant to join our St Cloud, MN office. The drilling assistant has primary responsibility for performing subsurface investigations for geotechnical and environmental purposes. A subsurface investigation can involve collecting soil, rock, groundwater samples, and logging the field data. These investigations take place over a wide variety of terrain, conditions, and weather. The drilling assistant will assist the crew chief in all aspects of the drilling operation and is expected to eventually gain the experience necessary to perform all the duties of a crew chief.Responsibilities:Assists the crew chief in all aspects of drilling operation, while gaining the experience necessary to work with minimal directionAssists in the collection of field samples and dataReturns field samples and data, organized and completed to the project managerResponsible for maintaining tooling, equipment, and vehiclesAssists the crew chief with troubleshooting mechanical problems and perform the required repairsUse required and approved personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing all functionsResponsible for promoting, communicating, and adhering to safe work practicesResponsible for completing all required paperwork and training in a timely mannerOperate vehicles in a safe and lawful mannerMaintain necessary compliance documentation relating to the operation of commercial motor vehiclesRequired experience and qualifications:Prior geotechnical drilling experience is preferred, but not requiredStrong technical and mechanical aptitudeAbility to diagnose mechanical problems and perform necessary repairsAbility to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers, customers, and supervisors, while fostering a collaborative and engaging work environmentStrong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-taskAbility to problem solve and work in a dynamic work environment with ambiguity and changing prioritiesAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsAbility to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in EnglishDependable, the ability to maintain reliable attendance and work a full-time schedule which sometimes includes weekend and night workMust be available for travel up to 50-75%, occasionally on short noticeAbility to work outdoors, in a field / construction work setting, in all types of weather conditions and terrainHigh school diploma or equivalent is preferredAbility to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis, 75lbs occasionallyA valid driver’s license and acceptable driving recordThe ability to obtain a CDL license within 90 days is preferredAbility to pass a driving / road testAbility to pass a pre employment drug screen, criminal background check and motor vehicle record checkCompensation range: $45,000.00 - $74,000.00
