Overview The George Washington University Hospital is a 395‑bed tertiary care, academic medical center located in downtown Washington, DC. Position Summary The Senior Clinical Coordinator (RN) is a frontline leadership role responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, high‑quality nursing care and smooth daily operations in the Operating Room. This role bridges clinical expertise and administrative responsibilities, providing support and guidance to OR nurses, coordinating case flow, and serving as a resource for the surgical team. Key Responsibilities Serve as a clinical expert and resource to OR nursing staff, ensuring adherence to best practices and safety standards. Oversee daily staffing, case assignments, and workflow to ensure on‑time starts and efficient turnover. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and other departments to coordinate case planning and resolve intraoperative challenges. Support onboarding and training of new staff; provide performance feedback and coaching. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and monitor key metrics (e.g., infection prevention, case delays). Act as a liaison between frontline staff and management; elevate issues as appropriate. Ensure documentation, supply management, and equipment needs are addressed in real time. Uphold standards for patient safety, regulatory compliance, and clinical excellence.
